About
Buffalo Blizzard 2022 refers to the winter storm that hit multiple states and cities across the Northeastern United States, which was particularly severe in New York during the 2022 Christmas weekend. The storm claimed the lives of over 20 people in the city of Buffalo alone, which experienced livestreamed looting and frozen bodies being discovered in the street.
Origin
On December 23rd, 2022, as part of a polar vortex hitting vast portions of the United States of America, the city of Buffalo, New York experienced particularly rough conditions, with multiple weather outlets claiming the winds were in excess of 60 mph and temperatures were well below freezing for hours at a time. The TikToker Hazeleyes1978[1] showed the conditions outside of her home on TikTok, amassing over 71,000 likes and scaring the platform into fearing for the safety of her dog Abby, who was confirmed to be okay (shown below).

Spread
After the worst parts of the storm passed, people began to go out and inspect the damage, which led to a lot of livestreaming. While this meant that pictures of destroyed cars and houses began to populate the newsfeeds of social media, this also led to looting and discovering dead bodies frozen to the ground from people who were either caught outside and unable to get to safety or had their houses not survive the weather and led to their entombment. The Twitter account @Red_BULLish[2] uploaded one of several videos showcasing the discovery of dead bodies by youths around the city, with some mocking the deceased in a way that others likened to Logan Paul's suicide forest video, gaining over 430 likes in one day (shown below).
Apparently the weather is so bad in my hometown of Buffalo, NY today that people are being found frozen to death outside. And making jokes around this man’s body.. prayers to Buffalo pic.twitter.com/j8I1ElYucy

On December 26th, 2022, the TikToker sn0wiflakes[3] uploaded a TikTok in which several shorter clips are put together to create a minute-long example of different types of looting that occurred in the city following the blizzard, with items being taken ranging from essential food items to televisions, inciting others on social media to call out the state for not sending assistance to the city to stop looting and help those obviously struggling to survive (shown below).
