Overview

Fyre Festival 2 is the upcoming sequel and believed redemption to the original Fyre Festival that was organized by Billy McFarland. The event is once again being held by Billy McFarland, who has stated that he is trying to do right by everyone affected by the disaster of the inaugural Fyre Festival, while also living up to the original promise.

Background

On February 17th, 2023, Billy McFarland was being interviewed as a guest on the Sofia With An F podcast, when the original vision for Fyre Festival came up. Billy mentioned what he had hoped to do with Fyre Fest, and confirmed that he would love to do a second one at some point, but he was unable to due to being on probation and having financial constraints. The clip was uploaded to Sofia's TikTok^[1] later that day, sharing the news that a Fyre Festival 2 was always a possibility (shown below).

Online Reactions

On April 9th, 2023, Billy McFarland tweeted that he was officially going to throw Fyre Festival 2, an announcement that quickly drew the ire of online creators. The TikToker BrutAmerica^[2] uploaded a TikTok deep dive into Billy's announcement, as well as giving info into the original disaster that happened with the first one, earning over 8,000 likes in one month (shown below).

On April 25th, 2023, the ChicksInTheOffice podcast uploaded a clip^[3] from their podcast in which they briefly brought up Billy's announcement and Fyre Festival 2. While talking on the topic, it was stated that anyone who buys a ticket has to be one of the dumbest people alive, and that even if invited you should not go (shown below).

Developments

While still battling the legal ramifications as a result of Fyre Festival, Billy McFarland^[4] took to TikTok on May 15th to announce that he acquired the backing funds to be able to do Fyre Festival 2 while also paying back all the court ordered restitution that he owes people (shown below).
