Overview
Jeffrey Toobin Zoom Dick Incident refers to a Zoom call in which Jeffrey Toobin, a legal analyst for CNN and The New Yorker, allegedly exposed himself on camera to staff of both The New Yorker and WNYC. After the incident was published in an article on Vice in mid-October 2020, the keywords "Zoom Dick" became a trending topic on Twitter in the United States. The Vice article was later updated to indicate that witnesses saw Toobin masturbating on the call.
Background
On October 19th, 2020, Vice[1] published an article titled "New Yorker Suspends Jeffrey Toobin for Zoom Dick Incident," which reported that Toobin had exposed himself during a Zoom call "between members of the New Yorker and WNYC radio." The article contained a statement from Toobin, who claimed he "made an embarrassingly stupid mistake" and that he thought he had "muted the Zoom video."
“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers. I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video”
