Overview
Jerry Seinfeld Kith Photoshoot refers to a series of promotional photographs of Jerry Seinfeld wearing the Fall 2022 clothing line by the streetwear brand Kith. The photographs were shared online by Kith in September 2022 to advertise their Fall 2022 collection and went viral, inspiring memes and reactions suggesting Seinfeld puts off "How Do You Do, Fellow Kids?" vibes while wearing the clothes and should "dress his age."
Background
On September 6th, 2022, the NYC streetwear brand Kith released a series of 10 promotional photographs for their upcoming Fall 2022 collection featuring Jerry Seinfeld wearing the clothes on Instagram[1] and Facebook,[2] garnering over 245,000 likes on the former and hundreds of likes on each photo on the latter in a day (shown below). The photos were also posted on kith.com.[3]
That day, Boardroom[14] published an interview with Seinfeld about the release. Seinfeld said he was "honored to be a part of Ronnie Fieg’s brilliant idea to do a Kith collection that will benefit CUNY and my alma mater, Queens College," calling the shoot, "just plain fun all day." Along with the collection's release, Kith pledged $25,000 to Queens College and Brooklyn College.
Online Reactions
The photoshoot went viral that day. It was reported on by media outlets including People,[4] Esquire[5] and Complex.[6] The shoot received mixed reactions online, inspiring discussion and memes about "dressing your age," with some making fun of the way Seinfeld looks. On September 6th, 2022, Twitter[7] user @dieworkwear posted, "ive never believed in the whole 'you should dress your age' thing until the kith seinfeld campaign," garnering over 2,500 likes in a day. On the same day, artist and Instagram[8] user lukeymcgarry posted a drawing of Seinfeld in the clothes, garnering over 4,200 likes in a day (shown below). That day, Twitter[9] user @dances wrote, "seinfeld for kith is funny cause the fit is really 'how do you do fellow kids' solid look to pick up a nyc highschooler," referencing Seinfeld dating a 17 year old when he was 39.[10]
Some reactions were more positive. On that day, Twitter[11] user @cjjohnsonjr shared several of the photos, writing, "Can’t get over Jerry Seinfeld being the cover model of the Kith Fall 2022 collection 🤯🔥" garnering over 150 likes in a day. Twitter[12] user @ObiAris shared a Stunt On These Hoes meme attaching a photo from the shoot to the meme (shown below, left). Twitter[13] user @imjasondiamond wrote, "It was supposed to be the summer of George but we got Seinfeld for KITH instead," garnering over 2,100 likes in a day (shown below, right).
