Overview
Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was a high-profile professional boxing match between the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao[1] and undefeated five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr.[2] that took place on May 2nd, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Background
The rumors of a boxing match between Mayweather and Pacquiao have been on the horizon since as early as 2009, with many experts speculating that the event would be the highest grossing fight in history. However, the match could not come to fruition until mid-2015, mainly due to the two parties' disagreements over the terms of the contract, including revenue sharing, drug testing and venue locations. On February 20th, 2015, Mayweather at last confirmed that the fight will take place on May 2nd via social media, and a limited number of 500 tickets subsequently went on sale to the public in the price range of $1,500 to $7,500 per seat; the tickets sold out within the first minute. Experts also predicted that the match would be the most profitable fight in boxing history with a projected revenue generation of $300 million.
Notable Developments
Mayweather's Victory
Mayweather won the fight by unanimous decision. Two of the judges scored 116–112 , with the third one scoring 118–110.
