Overview

The Shadman Logs refers to a social media controversy surrounding past interactions between multiple YouTubers and internet personalities with controversial NSFW artist Shadman. The controversy achieved virality online in July 2024 following the Ava Kris Tyson Shadman Commission Allegations as users compiled lists of internet personalities who commissioned art or interacted with the artist in previous years.

History

In mid-July 2024, several YouTube videos proposed grooming allegations against YouTuber Ava Kris Tyson, a member of YouTuber MrBeast's team. The allegations included accusations that in the past, Ava Kris Tyson followed and was a fan of Shadman, a controversial lolicon artist. Tyson purportedly commented on numerous Shadman posts, including comics depicting child abuse and sexual situations.^[1] Notably, Shadman's artwork can be seen in Tyson's house in a 2017 MrBeast video^[2] "Tipping Pizza Delivery Guys $10,000" (shown below).

On July 18th, X^[3] user @realExate made a post about Tyson's past interactions with Shadman on social media. The post (shown below) received over 1,900 reposts and 3,400 likes in one week.

On July 23rd, 2024, following multiple posts about Tyson being a fan of Shadman years prior, X^[4] user @nicholasdorio made a post calling for an investigation into popular internet personalities who supported Shadman in the past. Also on July 23rd, X^[5] user @CopeAndSeetheYT made a mega thread of screenshots of YouTubers and online personalities interacting with Shadman on social media, with the opening post gaining over 1,900 reposts and 8,100 likes in two days.

Later on July 23rd, Redditor Interesting_Pop5728 compiled a list of names mentioned in a thread, some of them erroneously, with the list, titled "People Associated With Shadman," gaining over 560 upvotes in the /r/youtubedrama^[6] subreddit in two days (shown below).

Some of the notable names on the list included YouTuber Dolan Dark, YouTuber, animator and co-creator of Smiling Friends Zach Hadel, YouTuber Crisp Rat and internet personality Anisa Jomha.

Developments

On July 23rd, 2024, X^[6] user @CriticalShogun made a series of posts in which they placed YouTube thumbnails and photographs of people mentioned on the list on an evidence board, referring to it as "The Shadman logs." The first post in the thread (completed version shown below) received over 460 reposts and 6,200 likes in one day.

Several people mentioned on the list denied the allegations as they emerged in late July 2024. For example, YouTuber Elvis The Alien made an X^[7] post in which he clarified that he never commissioned Shadman, although he did use his existing artwork (post shown below).

Online Reactions

On social media, the controversy became a subject of viral discussions, with multiple users discussing whether past associations with Shadman merited pushback.

For example, on July 23rd, 2024, X^[8] user @bootyrot made a post in which they wrote that by the logic applied to Ava Kris Tyson, the comedy show Smiling Friends should be canceled, as its co-creator Zach Hadel lived together with Shadman and had him on his podcast. The post (shown below) received over 2,200 reposts and 30,000 likes in two days.

Multiple users reacted with posts in the following hours and days expressing surprise at the controversy, mentioning that Shadman hasn't been relevant online for many years (example posts^[9] shown below, left). Memes and posts likening Shadman to Jeffrey Epstein as a figure tainting those connected to him were also shared in late July 2024 (example^[10] shown below).
