Evil Ass Rape Building refers to a series of memes using and referring to several photoshopped images of buildings and stores labeled "evil ass rape building." The memes were first popularized in February 2024 when a now-deleted mod was released for the video game Left 4 Dead 2 that changes the lettering on a taco restaurant in the mall to read "evil ass rape building." Memes referencing the buildings continued to spread throughout 2024, with one meme inspiring discourse about sexualization in the game Fear and Hunger. The meme may be considered an example of an evil building.

Origin

On or shortly prior to February 11th, 2024, Steam user stellar released a now-deleted mod for Left 4 Dead 2 on the Steam Workshop that replaced the sign on the in-game mall taco restaurant "Taco Bucket" to read "evil ass rape building." It is unclear when the mod was removed, but the creator released an alternate version that reads "evil ass tank building" and posted it to the Steam^[1] Workshop on February 11th, 2024.

On February 18th, X^[2] user @cyberianlunatic posted, "I have two jobs," along with two side-by-side images of buildings labeled "the hater building" and "evil ass rape building," the latter being a different building than the Left 4 Dead 2 building, garnering around 40 likes in nine months.

Spread

On March 31st, 2024, X^[3] user @GoodReddit posted a screenshot of a now-unavailable post to the subreddit /r/l4d2 by now-suspended Redditor u/heatherss_kn1fe in which they shared a screenshot of the Left 4 Dead 2 mod, writing, "I'm not fucking going here bro," garnering over 97,000 likes and 4,000 reposts in eight months.

On April 9th, Redditor u/angrynibba69 made a post to /r/l4d2^[4] referencing this post, this time titling it, "I'm fucking going here bro," garnering over 650 likes in seven months. On April 17th, a screenshot of u/heatherss_kn1fe's post was reposted to /r/losercity,^[5] garnering over 1,700 upvotes in the same span of time.

On June 16th, X^[6] user @lean_brah reposted the Left 4 Dead 2 mod screenshot, garnering over 10,000 likes in five months. On July 4th, Redditor u/zaima34 posted a meme referencing the game Fear and Hunger to /r/FearAndHunger,^[7] titled "The true fear and Hunger," in which a character looks at the evil ass rape building, garnering over 1,400 upvotes in four months.

On July 8th, 2024, Redditor u/warcrimes_enjoyer12 posted a meme to /r/titanfall^[8] using the Left 4 Dead 2 screenshot, garnering over 5,800 upvotes in four months.

On July 10th, X^[9] user @_rawrell quote-posted the alternate "evil ass rape building" meme along with text criticizing Fear and Hunger fans for complaining about sexualization in the game, writing, "It's funny how much Fear and Hunger 'fans' complain about sexualization when their favorite game is basically just this," garnering over 26,000 likes in four months.

On July 11th, 2024, Redditor u/Top-Shopping9887 posted the same image to /r/FearAndHunger^[10] in a post asking fans for their opinions on whether or not the game "portrays sexualisation as bad," writing, "it really saddens me seeing the characters drawn as part of someone’s purely sexual desire." The post garnered over 1,600 upvotes in the same span of time.

On July 16th, X^[11] user @janitorsupreme posted two versions of the alternative version of the meme, the left covering "rape" to make it just read "evil ass building," writing, "high fantasy vs. dark fantasy," garnering over 50,000 likes in four months. It was reposted to the subreddit /r/worldjerking^[12] on July 17th, garnering over 4,600 upvotes in the same span of time.

On November 1st, 2024, Redditor u/ContributionOk4879 posted a meme to /r/whenthe^[12] reading, "Does anybody have that 'evil ass rape building' image I don't wanna search that on Google (GIF unrelated)," garnering over 11,000 upvotes in three days.
