About
Famous Relative Check, a kin to Rich Boy Check , is a series of TikTok videos in which users show off family photos of their famous relatives in a montage set to the song "Devil Eyes" by Hippie Sabotage. The trend reached Twitter in August 2019 due to a viral video of a TikTok user claiming to be the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy's granddaughter.
Origin
On July 21st, 2019, TikTok user @gretanorris uploaded the first famous relative check video in which she shares family photos of herself with her grandfather, Chuck Norris (shown below). The video gained over 1.3 million likes and 27,000 shares in two weeks.

Spread
On July 25th, 2019, TikTok user @esterdobrik used @gretanorris's sound clip to show off pictures of herself with relative David Dobrik (shown below, left). The video received over 1.6 million likes and 34,600 shares in 11 days. Two days later, @lilygarofaloo uploaded a similar video announcing that her aunt is Sandra Bullock which garnered over 610,500 likes in nine days (shown below, right).

On August 2nd, One Twitter user shared TikTok user ally.r.bragg's TikTok video in which she claims her grandfather is Ted Bundy. Both the TikTok video and Tweet have since been deleted. Two days later, YouTuber Shala uploaded a video featuring the original TikTok and comments connected to the video (shown below). The TikTok user finally admitted on her Instagram that the video was a joke.
On August 3rd, Twitter users reacted to the TikTok video. Twitter user @connivingwitch[2] tweeted, "ted bundy’s e-girl granddaughter exposing their family on tik tok for clout is easily in the top 5 greatest social media moments of all time this is really one for the books" (shown below, left). The tweet gained over 29,300 likes and 5,700 retweets in two days. Twitter user @gabeIandeskogs,[1] also commented on the video saying, "Ted Bundy’s granddaughter outing her family in hiding for tiktok clout I am losing my mother fucking mind" (shown below, right).
