Fork Found In Kitchen, also known as Fork Spotted In The Kitchen, is a catchphrase that mocks obvious headlines, discoveries and announcements. It's often used to make fun of news headlines on Twitter / X that feel inherent to members of the fandom or fanbase in question. The meme started on X in 2021, spreading over the following years. It's most often written in quote tweets.

Origin

The earliest iteration of the Fork Found In Kitchen meme appeared on July 6th, 2020, when X / Twitter^[7] user @jins0uI posted a tweet about K-pop artist Sehun purportedly being spotted in a gay bar, with X user @wemeinc then replying and saying, "n---a okay?? fork spotted in the kitchen cmon now."

The reply has since been deleted, but was reposted by Instagram^[8] user @baekenergy on September 7th, 2020, garnering over 2,600 likes and 50 comments in roughly five years.

On March 9th, 2026, @wemeinc posted on X^[9] and said the original tweet reply was removed "bc the original had the n word in it."

Another early usage of Fork Found In Kitchen was shared by X^[1] user @93rchive on February 11th, 2021, reading, "'HARRY STYLES SPOTTED AT A GAY BAR' ok? fork found in kitchen move along now," receiving over 8,400 likes in three years (shown below).

About a year later, on September 19th, 2022, X^[2] user @gwayupdates quoted a post reading, "OMG WE HAVE A PERSON IN THE PSYCH WARD WHO KNOWS MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE OMG OMG," with "fork found in kitchen," gaining over 34,000 likes in two years (shown below, left).

Soon after, on September 23rd, X^[3] user @sweetlemondream shared a similar post about Twitch streamer Jerma, receiving over 29,000 likes in two years (shown below, right).

On September 22nd, 2022, a since-deleted Redditor^[4] shared X^[2] user @gwayupdates's tweet to the subreddit /r/196, receiving over 5,200 upvotes in two years.

In 2023, the catchphrase spread on TikTok, evident in a post shared by TikToker^[5] @bug.cel on November 3rd, 2023, with a caption reading, "Me after finding out my favorite Minecraft YouTuber is a pdf file (fork found in kitchen)," amassing over 88,000 plays and 8,700 likes in nine months (shown below).

In 2024, the catchphrase continued to amass viral usage, evident in a post shared by X^[6] user @tyler02020202 on January 3rd, 2024, that quoted a tweet about former President Donald Trump being named on the Jeffrey Epstein List, gaining over 330,000 likes in eight months (shown below).
