About

Get Free WiFi Anywhere You Go is a video remix meme based on a video for the WiFiAnywhere app from WifiSteal.com. In the video advertisement, a distorted voice says, "Get free WiFi anywhere you go," before the video cuts to a clip from the San Holo remix of the Dr. Dre song "The Next Episode" beginning with the words "Hold up."

Origin

On October 20th, 2014, the YouTube channel Trap Nation published the video "Dr. Dre – The Next Episode (San Holo Remix)." Within six years, the video received more than 227 million views (shown below).

On April 13th, 2015, Vine [1] user Free Wifi Anywhere published the earliest available version of the video (shown below). The post received more than 4,000 loops. However, it is unlikely that this is the origin of the meme.

Spread

The following year, YouTuber Kingratdaddy posted the video, receiving more than 8,000 views.[2]

On April 5th, 2017, YouTuber What Am I Doing With My Life shared a deep-fried version of the video. The post received more than 46,000 views in less than four years (shown below, left).

On April 16th, 2018, YouTuber ChickenSuit Guy posted the video on YouTube. The video received more than 675,000 views and 32,000 likes in less than three years (shown below, right).

On November 22nd, 2019, YouTuber Spegghti Sauce shared a remix of the video that received more than 32,000 views in less than one year (shown below).

On August 16th, an anonymous Redditor asked the /r/OutOfTheLoop[3] subreddit "What’s up with that ‘Hold Up, Ring-Ding Ding-Ding-Ding-Ding Ding-Ding’ I keep seeing in satire videos about ‘reddit kids’?" Redditor KingHorseFucker responded, "Answer: It's a reference to this video clip and it's a "meme" because the clip is used in "21st Century Humor" videos like this and the song is Dr. Dre – The Next Episode (San Holo Remix).
