In Summer 2020, Girls vs. Boys memes based on Soyjaks vs. Chads format gained popularity. In September 2022, Girls Lunch Tables Vs Boys Lunch Tables memes grew in popularity on TikTok

The format originated from an Apirl 3rd, 2019, post by Russian Twitter user @one_dead_world[4] which has been parodied by the Russian social media users in the following months,[5] reaching mainstream popularity on Reddit in May 2019.[6]

Girls Sleepovers vs. Boys Sleepovers refers to a series of memes expressing the perceived differences between sleepover parties held by boys and girls in a comedic, often absurd manner, similar to the Boys Locker Room format.
The format gained popularity following a viral Reddit post by user Sloppy_Tommy made on May 24th, 2019.[7]

On June 21st, 2019, Redditor Yun-Grape420 reposted the first viral meme based on the joke, with the post gaining over 10,700 upvotes in two months (shown below, left).[8] The original author of the meme is currently unknown.

On August 10th, 2019, Redditor XXXNASTECION posted the first known meme based on the joke to /r/dankmemes subreddit, with the post gaining over 88,200 upvotes in three weeks (shown below, left).[9] In the following weeks, more posts utilizing the format were posted to various subreddits.

Girls Wallpaper vs. Boys Wallpaper is a series of memes parodying the perceived difference in the choice of custom desktop backgrounds between male and female teenagers.
On August 15th, 2019, Redditor Teh_Crispiest_Bacon posted the first known meme based on the joke to /r/dankmemes subreddit, gaining over 29,400 upvotes in two weeks (shown below, left).[10] In the following days, more jokes based on the format were posted online, primarily on Reddit.

On September 18th, 2019, Redditor Khrime posted the first known meme based on the joke utilizing Press Y to Shame format to /r/dankmemes subreddit, gaining over 29,000 upvotes in two weeks (shown below, left).[11] In the following days, more posts based on the joke were posted online on Reddit and other platforms (examples shown below).

While "Boys Lunch Tables" memes have existed on the internet since 2019, the memes grew in popularity in September 2022. The earliest known "Boys Lunch Table" meme was posted to Youtube[13] by the account MEMES 4U on October 27th, 2019. The video is a repost of a since deleted tweet, and gathered nearly 3,000 views in three years (seen below).
The first viral Boys Lunch Table meme was posted to TikTok[14] on January 14th, 2022, by @edp_memes_uwu. The upload has gathered 2.2 million plays and over 300,000 likes in nearly nine months (seen below, left).
On August 1st 2022, TikToker[15] @dv_editzz_cc posted a video using the meme format, gathering over 4.4 million views and 900,000 likes in nearly two months (seen below, right).

On January 15th, 2020, subreddit[12] /r/boysarequirky was created, collecting examples of Girls vs. Boys memes with the purpose of mocking them. The subreddit accumulated over 2,500 subscribers in seven months.
