"Good Soup" Adam Driver refers to a scene from a 2017 episode of HBO's Girls in which Adam Driver, sitting in a diner, slurps soup, shows an "OK" sign with his hand, and says "good soup." The scene became popular on TikTok in lip dubs in August 2021. When a TikToker repeatedly gets Good Soup videos on their For You Page, it is known as being on "Good Soup TikTok."

Origin

On April 2nd, 2017, Season 6 Episode 8 of HBO's Girls aired on television. In the episode, Adam Driver and Lena Dunham's characters meet at a diner to discuss how they want different things, and how he shouldn't help her raise her baby. The two cry at the table together, then Adam takes a slurp of soup, give a quick "OK" sign with his hand, and says "good soup" (shown below).

An isolated clip of Driver eating the soup was uploaded to YouTube[4] on August 6th, 2021, gaining over 62,000 views in just under a month. On August 15th, TikToker[5] @visionsvibraniumpubes posted an isolated clip of Driver eating the soup with additional text reading "me when the soups good," gaining over 14.8 million views in two weeks (shown below).

The sound started to become popular on TikTok in late August 2021 in lip dub skits. On August 21st, TikToker[1] @mr.peanutbutterhatepage posted a video using the sound in a skit, gaining over 3.4 million views in 10 days. This is one of the earliest popular videos to use the sound (shown below).
