Goonatar is a Brainrot Dub Edit video based on an Avatar: The Last Airbender scene in which Zuko is talking to Uncle Iroh about the fate of the Avatar. The video went viral in early April 2024 on TikTok using slang overload terms to replace the original dialogue with words such as "rizz," "Skibidi," "edging" and many more.

Origin

On April 2nd, 2024, TikTok[1] user @rizzyohioedits posted a brainrot dub edit video featuring a scene from the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon in which Zuko is talking to Uncle Iroh about the fate of the Avatar. In the video, the "Avatar" is replaced by "Goonatar," which uses wordplay with the slang term "gooning." The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 619,000 plays and 19,900 likes in two weeks.

On April 3rd, the same creator[2] posted another "Goonatar" brainrot edit (shown below, right), which received over 5 million plays and 757,000 likes in two weeks.

Over the course of the weeks, more "Goonatar" videos started to appear on TikTok. For example, on April 10th, 2024, TikTok[3] user @endo.ae posted a new brainrot dub featuring Zuko speaking a series of slang overload terms (shown below, left), which amassed over 1.2 million plays and 263,000 likes in a week.

On April 6th, TikTok[4] user @lusciousss_ joked about the "Goonatar" video as a brainrot content his friend sends (shown below, right), amassing roughly 3 million plays and 595,000 likes in two weeks.
