About
Goop On Ya Grinch refers to a tweet satirizing the academic and highbrow approach to music criticism the website Pitchfork takes to the songs and albums it reviews. The original tweet by @JucheMane has been referenced by Twitter users and music fans in the years since it was first posted as a means to satirize Pitchfork's writing and music criticism in general.
Origin
On April 14th, 2017, Twitter user @JucheMane[1] tweeted, "Pitchfork: King PU$$Y Eater revolutionizes our perception of bodies and spaces with his hit single 'Goop on Ya Grinch' [7.6]." The tweet gained over 8,100 retweets and 7,000 likes in four years (shown below). "King PU$$Y Eater" is not a real artist and "Goop on Ya Grinch" was not a real song (though the group Husbands named a song "Goop on Ya Grinch"[2] later that year.) It is speculated[3] that the tweet is a reference to Pitchfork's review of CupcakKe's Queen Elizabitch.[4]

Spread
Over the following years, the tweet became a common reference whenever people mocked Pitchfork reviews or music criticism. On December 8th, 2020, @Sturgeons_Law[5] called the tweet prophetic and compared it to Pitchfork's blurb for "WAP," it's number one song of 2020, gaining over 480 retweets and 6,600 likes (shown below, left). @JucheMane[6] himself and others brought up the tweet when Pitchfork reviewed Queen Key's Eat My Pussy Again (shown below, right).

Others have praised the tweet as one of the best in Twitter's history. Twitter user @ShadowTodd[7] called it a "hall of famer" and compared it to a Charly Bliss tweet that was also poking fun at music criticism (shown below, left). User @ethnicohioan[8] hypothesized it was the best tweet in the site's history (shown below, right).
