About
Hansel Getting Photographed, also known as Hansel Riding Scooter, refers to an exploitable video meme template showing actor Owen Wilson's character Hansel in the movie Zoolander approaching a red carpet event on his scooter and then being photographed by paparazzi. The meme trended alongside the Zoolander Stare meme in late 2022. Meme creators predominantly object labeled Hansel and the paparazzi in the template, often portraying Hansel as a sigma male with rizz, similar to memes made about the Lightskin Stare and Chad Face. Most of the videos used the song "Party party" by Waq1ux and yally as the sound.
Origin
The comedy movie Zoolander was released in American theaters on September 28th, 2001.[1] In the opening scene of the movie, Owen Wilson's character, Hansel, arrives on the red carpet for the "Male Model of the Year" award ceremony riding a Razor scooter. He does an aerial trick, lands, puts his scooter away and then proceeds to strut down the red carpet entrance while making his handsome, modeling face at the paparazzi cameras (YouTube upload shown below).
Starting in December 2022, meme creators on TikTok started using the "Zoolander Stare" template following the popularity of the "Lightskin Stare" memes on the platform. As a variant, meme creators on the platform started using Hansel's paparazzi scene instead. The first meme creator to do so was TikToker[2] youknowmattt on December 7th, 2022, who wrote in text overlay, "Me when an older woman calls me handsome at work (I'm literally handsome)," and gaining roughly 2.6 million plays and 461,700 likes in five days (shown below).

Spread
Soon after, other TikTokers followed youknowmattt's example, using the same sound[3] — which was the song "Party party" by Waq1ux and yally.[4] For instance, on December 8th, 2022, TikToker[5] tatertottyhotty posted an iterationthat joked about being the main character, earning roughly 2 million plays and 386,400 likes in four days (shown below, left). On December 11th, 2022, TikToker[6] showerrgell2 posted an iteration that earned roughly 978,500 plays and 198,900 likes in one day (shown below, right).
