History

Announcement

For example, that day, X[2] user @ commented, "This is an absolute embarrassment. Juvenile at best, fetish fulfillment at worse and given the quality of comics DC has put out in recent years, I’m gonna assume the worst," garnering over 5,000 likes in the same span of time.

On December 26th, X[3] user @Ziricurry made a post claiming to be one of the illustrators behind the comic, writing, "I’m very displeased of all the backlash. We’ve worked very hard on this and I would appreciate it if you guys would just give it a shot," garnering over 1,700 likes in three months.

I’ve been holding in all my very worst bits of bubble guts for the last 32 years, and it’s all been leading up to this epic expulsion! Your nose will never be the same! You’ll gag, you’ll cry, you’ll feel things you ain’t never felt before! This fine publication is a celebration of all things passed, pre-scent, and toot-ure. Sequential art’s place in the annals of history is about to change with the release of the Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent Butt Deadly, a comic that promises to have the highest concentration of gas per page (GPP) ever committed to print. Emphasis on committed, because everyone who worked on this comic is getting thrown into Dr. Fartley’s Home for No-Good Gassy Gals ’n’ Guys. Read the comic that Abraham Lincoln called “a joy from fart to finish” moments before he died!

Online Presence

The comic inspired memes and discourse online in the months surrounding its release, including memes ironically hyping up its release.

On March 17th, 2025, Redditor u/thekingbutten made a post to the subreddit /r/BatmanArkham[5] announcing that it was only nine days until the release of the comic, garnering over 3,300 upvotes in 10 days.

A meme reading, "Gentlemen, it is with great sadness I inform you the Harley Quinn fart comic releases in 9 days."

On March 25th, X[6] user @PimpMasterYoda1 posted screenshots of pages from the comic, writing, "The Harley Quinn fart comic has came out and it's 100% fetish material. Harley Quinn gets TURNED ON when she smells butt gas and tries to encourage Poison Ivy to fart for her," garnering over 1,800 likes in two days.

Reception

On March 26th, 2025, Batman-News[9] published a review of the comic in which the writer, Jackson Luken, suspects the comic may have been going for a body positivity angle but concludes that it is fetishistic. Ultimately, he awards the comic a 1/10. In one part of the review, he writes:

[…] the story opens with Harley assuring Ivy that farts are nothing to be ashamed of. What I didn’t mention is that she doesn’t simply accept farts as normal. She positively obsesses over the smell of her farts and says how she wants to smell more. This continues throughout the rest of the comic as a running theme, including when Plastic Man suddenly falls in love with the villain who can never stop farting.

Did someone suck off an exec under the table? Semi-serious question; I want to believe nepotism was involved here because the idea that it wasn't and the people in charge of what projects get greenlit thought this was actually worth publishing is… way worse.
