Here's the "Thing", also known as So, Here's The "Thing", refers to a series of memes based on Marvel comics Fantastic Four hero "The Thing" being used for punchline jokes and copypasta comments on social media. The meme started on Reddit in late 2019 but resurfaced in March 2025, especially after the addition of the character in the Marvel Rivals hero shooter and the promotion of the 2025 Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four film.
Origin
On November 14th, 2019, Redditor[1] u/jetstairs uploaded an illustration of the Fantastic Four hero "The Thing" to the r/antimeme subreddit channel, captioning as "So here's 'The Thing'." The post (seen below) received roughly 100 upvotes and 3 comments in six years.
The earliest viral usage of the phrase, however, was uploaded on TikTok[2] by user @brickaway on January 26th, 2023. In the video, the creator is showing his Marvel comics action figure collection and, when the Fantastic Four hero is shown, the text "Here's The Thing" appears. The post (seen below) amassed more than 253,000 likes in two years.

Jokes and memes using the character's name as a punchline grew popular in early 2025 with the promotion of the Marvel Rivals hero shooter and the 2025 Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four film. For instance, on April 17th, 2025, X[3] user @DiamondSpiderP posted a screenshot from the Fantastic Four trailer, adding the caption "I know things have Ben Grimm lately, but here’s the Thing." The tweet (seen below) amassed more than 2 million views and 102,000 likes in two days.
On February 21st, 2025, TikTok[4] user @sirkeyf used the catchphrase "Here's the 'Thing'" in a fan edit of the Marvel Rivals MVP clip of the hero. The post (seen below) received roughly 1.2 million plays and 173,000 likes in two months.
