On June 12th, 2023, cartoonist Tatsuya Ishida posted a four-panel comic on his X^[1] account @TatsuyaIshida9, titled, "Leave The Kids Alone." The comic shows an androgynous queer person juggling dildos at a kid's pool party. The performer has blue hair, pierced nipples and is wearing a pink Speedo. In the first panel, the character says, "Hey young people," and then "Bonerrr, bonerrr," in the second. A mom interjects in the third, saying, "Leave the kids alone!" The queer character is then shown on the floor, exclaiming, "I'm being genocided!"

Over two years, the tweet received over 9,800 likes (censored version shown below).

In the following months, the comic was reposted by internet users who seemingly agreed with its messaging, such as X^[2] user @GayRepublicSwag on June 18th, 2023, who shared a cropped version, captioning it, "The accuracy!!! Leave kids alone!!" The tweet received over 27,000 likes in two years (censored version shown below).

On September 3rd, Redditor^[3] Gabbbyyyyyyyyy shared a recaptioned version to the subreddit /r/bonehurtingjuice, titled, "Multicolored banana salesman," receiving over 3,400 upvotes in two years (censored version shown below).

In 2024, viral reposts from the comic's supporters continued on X^[4][5] and other sites like Facebook.^[6] Opponents of the comic also shared it during the same timeframe, like Redditor^[7] ImperialWalker436 who posted it to the subreddit /r/TheRightCantMeme on March 8th, 2024, gaining over 2,900 upvotes in 11 months.

On February 15th, 2025, X^[8] user @johnnythabull posted the original comic in support of it, gaining over 3,500 likes in four days. His tweet also received over 17.5 million views, predominantly due to viral quote tweets of it from users against the comic.

For instance, on February 15th, X^[9] user @faggotcodsex quoted it, writing, "This has never happened I fear," amassing over 155,000 likes in four days (censored version shown below).

On February 16th, X^[10] user @domoxd_800 quoted @johnnythabull's tweet with a redrawn version that humorously censored the comic by giving the LGBTQ+ character pants and changing the dildos to stuffed animals. They also recaptioned the speech bubbles. Over three days, it amassed over 67,000 likes (shown below).

On February 17th, 2025, Redditor^[11] _player-3 reposted the abovementioned meme to /r/Stonetossingjuice, gaining over 8,700 upvotes in two days.

In the following days, the Bonerrr Bonerrr comic notably sparked discourse about cartoonist Tatsuya Ishida.

For instance, on February 17th, X^[12] user @alienpurin tweeted, "More bonerrr bonerrr comics but they're all fucking stupid, hate-centric, and make no sense," starting a thread of other anti-LGBTQ+ comics from Ishida. The tweet received over 137,000 likes in two days (shown below).
