About

Hi Hi Good Morning is a viral video of a little boy walking down the street waving to neighbors and saying "Hi" and "Good morning" to people on the street. On TikTok, people use the sound from the video for videos of animals meeting each other.

Origin

On April 3rd, 2020, Twitter user @TobyMarriot tweeted, "My 3-year-old nephew is the friendliest toddler you'd ever wish to meet, and always says hello to all the people he walks past. On his daily walk today, though, he had to pretend… 🤣Hope this brightens up your day!" The video features a blonde-haired boy walking down the street and greeting people he meets. The tweet received more than 1.7 million views, 59,000 likes and 15,000 retweets in less than one year (shown below).

Spread

On April 7th, 2020, TikToker[1] @KaleSalad, who curates and posts viral media across platforms, shared the video on TikTok. The post received more than 3 million reactions, 125,000 shares and 15,000 comments. The sound from the video inspired more than 250,000 videos in less than one year.[2]

Over the next year, TikTokers used the audio from the video to provide the soundtrack for various clips of their own, primarily featuring dogs meeting or waking up their owners, as well as videos that feature jokes about waking up in the morning. For example, on September 8th, TikToker @elyssajoy_ shared a video with audio from the video as part of a sketch about a woman annoying a waking man. The post received more than 1.2 million reactions and 2,000 in less than four months (shown below, left).
