About
Hit Em refers to a series of original electronic music compositions inspired by a tweet from X / Twitter user @DDDrewDaniel, who claimed he had a dream in which a girl told him about a genre called "Hit Em" that is "in 5/4 time at 212 bpm with super crunched out sounds." The tweet in late July 2024 inspired electronic music composers to attempt to make beats within those parameters, with several of the compositions spreading widely on Twitter.
Origin
On July 29th, 2024, Twitter user @DDDrewDaniel[1] tweeted, "had a dream I was at a rave talking to a girl and she told me about a genre called 'hit em' that is in 5/4 time at 212 bpm with super crunched out sounds thank you dream girl." The tweet gained over 650 retweets and 10,000 likes in two days (shown below).
Spread
Quickly after @DDDrewDaniel's post, electronic music composers began trying their hands at making a "Hit Em" track, using the parameters laid out by the girl in the original tweet.
