Hosed Karen refers to a woman in a viral video depicting her getting into an argument with the person filming her, resulting in the cameraperson spraying her with a garden hose. A shot of the woman gesturing towards another person off-screen saw use as a reaction image on Twitter a month after the video was first posted.

Origin

On June 25th, 2021, Redditor HomelessInKansasCity posted a video to /r/PublicFreakout^[1] of neighbors getting into a fight, titled, "Just methin' around with the neighbors." The video gained over 36,000 points. The same day, it was posted to YouTube by Uncultured Swine, gaining over 275,000 views (shown below).

Spread

The video did not start becoming a meme until the end of July 2021, during which time, several users used a still image of the woman pointing behind her as a reaction image. On July 31st, user @yahoelovedaj^[2] posted the still with the caption, "Lil Baby in every music video," gaining over 5,300 retweets and 35,000 likes (shown below, left). Later that evening, user @emilyymoonz^[3] posted an example that gained over 47,000 retweets and 194,000 likes (shown below, right).

The picture continued to see use in popular reaction image memes on Twitter over the following week. On August 2nd, user @IAmKirasade^[4] posted an example that gained over 38,000 retweets and 197,000 likes (shown below, left). On August 8th, user @aaronarroyo_^[5] posted an example that gained over 7,800 retweets and 44,000 likes (shown below, right). The meme was covered by The Daily Dot.^[6]
