I Have A Tummy Ache But I'm Being So Brave About It is a catchphrase that grew popular on Twitter in the spring and summer of 2021 as a part of the larger Tummy Ache meme trend. In addition to copypasta reposts of the phrase, it has been used in numerous image macros.
Origin
On May 5th, 2021, Twitter user @boss_on_here[1] tweeted, "My tummy hurts but im being so brave about it," gaining over 12,000 retweets and 86,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
The post became a common copypasta over the following weeks, as multiple users reposted it or posted slight variations of it.[2] On May 30th, 2021, iFunny[3] user LolaBit posted a They Don't Know variation inspired by the tweet (shown below, left). On July 19th, @meowmeowmia[4] tweeted a variation of the post imposed onto a group of Wojaks, gaining over 15,000 retweets and 136,000 likes (shown below, right).
