I Love You Too, Egg refers to a redraw template inspired by a line said by Chidi from The Good Place. In the scene, Chidi opens an egg and finds a paper message saying "I love you." He respongs by saying, "I love you too, egg."

Origin

On January 12th, 2017, season 1 episode 11 of The Good Place titled "What's My Motivation" premiered.^[1] In the episode, Chidi (played by William Jackson Harper) opens an egg and finds a piece of paper with the message "I love you." Chidi replies, "I love you too, egg" (scene shown below).

Spread

Starting in the 2020s, the scene grew poplar as a redraw reference. For example, on November 17th, 2022, Twitter / X^[2] user @marley_0O0O_ uploaded a Gundam: The Witch from Mercury fan art piece based on the scene, receiving more than 10,000 reposts and 26,200 likes in two years (shown below, left). On November 27th, 2022, X^[3] user @tomseachi uploaded a Genshin Impact redraw and received more than 2,500 reposts and 17,600 likes in two years (shown below, right).

On February 23rd, 2023 X^[4] user @donko_4147 uploaded a Yakuza fan art using the scene and received more than 1,200 reposts and 5,700 likes in one year (shown below, left). On January 23rd, 2024, X^[5] user @Gardavwar uploaded Hololive fan art and received more than 3,700 reposts and 30,700 likes in one week (shown below, right).
