I Quit. I Gotta Focus on Fortnite refers to a Papyrus Font meme format in which a user announces that they will be quitting their job to focus on something they deem more important. The original version about the video game Fortnite was shared in August 2024, with the format gaining virality in the following months as it spread online.
Origin
On August 16th, 2024, X[1] user @biggersocks posted an image macro written in Papyrus font, also known for its use in Freaky memes, reading, "I quit. I gotta focus on Fortnite." The post (shown below) received over 1,2 million views, 6,200 reposts and 42,000 likes in five months.

Spread
In the following days, multiple users on X and other sites posted recaptioned versions of the meme by replacing "Fortnite" in the original image.
For example, on August 16th, 2024, X[2] user @sliccmic posted a version of the meme about the Dress to Impress game that received over 11,000 reposts and 62,000 likes in five months (shown below).

Several memes based on the format went viral online in the second half of 2024. For example, on November 11th, 2024, X[3] user @sapphiscs posted a version recaptioned, "I quit. I gotta focus on lesbianism." The post (shown below) received over 3,900 reposts and 22,000 likes in two months.

More versions of the meme were circulated on X, iFunny, Instagram and other sites in late 2024 and early 2025.
