The post gathered over 6,000 quote tweets and 3,000 likes in four days (seen below).

The post received critical replies soon after it was posted, with many people pushing back on the idea of using autism as an excuse for cheating. On June 30th, 2024, X^[2] user @willsgardevoir wrote, "there is no such thing as a nonverbal cue that signifies the beginning of a relationship," while X^[3] user @Neoncaffeine called the post a personal "cope."

On July 2nd, 2024, X^[6] user @tristandross posted a joke following the phrasal format of the original tweet, writing, "I was reading something about how autistic folks often embezzle company funds but its due to not catching the non-verbal cues that signify the outlines of corporate financial policies and mechanism," and gathering over 66,000 likes in two days (seen below, top).
