Ice Cream Hair, also known as the Ice Cream Haircut or Ice Cream Cut, refers to a fluffy hairstyle that's popular among white Gen Z (Zoomer) and Gen Alpha boys, which features a rounded, bowl-like top and swooped-out bangs, resembling how an ice cream scoop looks when placed on top of a cone. Ice Cream Hair gained fame and notoriety in the early 2020s, peaking in 2025, via memes on TikTok, Twitter / X and other social media sites, mirroring memes about the Zoomer Perm or Broccolli Cut. Viral posts often used two WikiHow images of the Ice Cream Hair, each showing a blonde and a brunette boy. Memes and viral videos like the 6-7 Kid and catchphrases like "Yeah, I Play Baseball" further cemented the "Ice Cream Hair Kid" stereotype, which typecasts white boys who use brainrot and AAVE slang and are overall perceived as cringy. Other signifiers of the archetype are ice cream shorts from the brand Baseball Lifestyle, enjoying rap music from artists like Ken Carson and Playboi Carti and saying "6-7" or "Where the huzz at?"

Origin

On November 12th, 2022, the TikTok^[1] account @overtime reposted a video that they credited to an Instagram user named @sewyzandreo. It showed a white boy blow-drying his hair with a backwards baseball cap on, which transitioned into a photo of an ice cream scoop. The TikTok received over 3.5 million likes in three years (shown below).

The clip is currently the first known meme to liken the haircut to ice cream. The original video is no longer on @sewyzandreo's Instagram but has been reposted elsewhere online.^[2]

Spread

In 2023, a new video of two boys dancing to the song "Embarrassment" by rapper Travis Scott went viral online. It's currently unknown where it was shared first. However, reposts, memes and edits of the video surfaced as early as May 11th, 2023, with a video from TikToker^[3] @fe.fostededits, which likened the boys to ice cream scoops, similar to the abovementioned video. It received over 3,200 likes in two years (shown below).

Also, the video used a repost from a TikToker^[4] named @brody.44, but the video is no longer on his account. However, it was reposted and used by several others, like TikToker^[5] @shopdappleddarlin, showing that its original text caption read, "POV Every kid in school."

On July 23rd, 2023, Instagram^[6] user @muromeroo spoofed the video of the two kids by taping upside-down bananas to his head to resemble the hairstyle. In two years, the Reel received over 13.3 million likes (shown below).

Memes about the two kids in the abovementioned video continued on TikTok^[7] in late 2023.

Heading into 2024, memes continued on TikTok, like one shared by TikToker^[8] @yxzkry on June 25th, showing a kid having his mom blow-dry his hair into an Ice Cream Haircut. The text caption read, "'Yeah I got fluffy hair' ahh cut," and "'Yeah I play baseball' ahh cut." The audio was the AUGHHHH sound. Over 10 months, it amassed over 864,000 likes (shown below).

On January 13th, 2025, Instagram^[9] user @00piumunderground posted a meme, using an image from the WikiHow^[10] page "What Is Ice Cream Hair & How Do I Get It?" The user added a caption about rapper Playboi Carti, gaining over 72,600 likes in four months (shown below).

On March 27th, TikToker^[11] @numberonetrumphater used the same WikiHow image in a meme making fun of white kids who say they're from "the trenches," gaining over 1.1 million likes in a month (shown below).

On May 1st, 2025, X^[12] user @melonwoofle tweeted a different image of a blonde boy from the WikiHow^[10] article, captioned, "Y'all my cousins dating one of these, what do I tell her?" The tweet gained over 13,000 likes in a day (shown below).

The 6-7 Kid With Fluffy Hair, also known as the 67 Kid, refers to a white boy with blonde fluffy hair and an Essentials Fear of God hoodie loudly saying, "Ay, 6-7," on the sideline of a basketball game in a Cam Wilder YouTube video. The kid is referencing the rap song "Doot Doot" by Skrilla. His haircut was likened to Ice Cream Hair. The video spread via reposts on TikTok in April 2025, with many perceiving the kid as cringe, particularly concerning white people co-opting Blackness.
