Jackie Kennedy Eats Sheet Metal refers to a concept in memes that former U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Lee Kennedy Onassis, the wife of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy (JFK), was a feral creature who ate and enjoyed multiple obtuse objects such as sheet metal, spare change (pennies) and the White House's marble columns, among others. The concept trended in memes on TikTok in late 2022 but originated on Twitter in late 2020, predominantly started by Twitter user @BhadDhad who made many jokes about Jackie Kennedy's teeth and appearance and recorded audio of Jackie Kennedy growling.

Origin

On August 6th, 2020, Twitter^[1] user BhadDhad tweeted a photo of Jackie Kennedy, humorously relaying in the caption that she looked like the character Sid from Ice Age. The tweet received roughly 2,000 likes in two years and started a pattern of tweets from BhadDhad about Jackie Kennedy's appearance. On November 7th, 2020, Twitter^[2] user BhadDhad posted another Jackie Kennedy tweet, captioning a photo of her smiling with, "'JACKIE WANT HERSHEY!!!'" and gaining over 620 likes in two years (shown below, left). On November 8th, 2020, Twitter^[3] user usedwifi photoshopped the image by overlaying the creepy Sus Jerma smile on Kennedy, captioning it, "JACKIE WANT SHEET METAL," and gaining over 980 likes in two years (shown below, right).

On January 1st, 2021, Twitter^[4] user BhadDhad tweeted a blank background video that only included audio of them growling, captioning it, "jackie kennedy be like," and earning roughly 8,300 views and over 230 likes in two years (shown below). The tweet was posted as a reply to a different tweet^[5] of theirs that wrote, "JACKIE WANT POPTART," and earned over 1,000 likes in the same time period.

On June 10th, 2021, Twitter^[6] user yyzpz quote retweeted a photo of Jackie Kennedy, writing, "Jackie want sheet metal," and earning over 320 likes in one year (shown below, left). On November 2nd, 2021, Twitter^[7] user bigfatmoosepssy tweeted, "JFK and Jackie met cause he was eating sheet metal alone and asked her if she wanted some," in a tweet that received roughly 74,600 likes in 11 months (shown below, right).

In late 2022, TikTokers adopted the concept and used various growling sounds already on TikTok, as well as making their own. This predominantly started on September 10th, 2022, when TikToker^[8] wafflestompmilkshake posted a video that joked about U.S. Cabinet members trying to talk to Jackie Kennedy but she keeps growling and asking for more sheet metal, gaining roughly 2.4 million plays and 394,400 likes in 16 days (shown below, left). On September 21st, 2022, TikToker^[9] heaveninsideyou added a photo of Marie Schrader from Breaking Bad into the discourse because she looks like Kennedy, gaining roughly 90,000 plays and 14,400 likes in five days (shown below, right).
