Lamborghini Genesis (TikTok) refers to a search term on TikTok that TikTokers used to post porn, gore and Rule 34 art, similar to the precursor Neon Brown account and 777 Filters. Users got away with posting the explicit content by only using the images as the thumbnails so, when clicked on, the videos instead showed a creepy visual made to jumpscare the viewer. Lamborghini Genesis and its hashtag #lamborghinigenesis surfaced in December 2023.

Origin

Sometime before December 12th, 2023, a TikToker named @lamborghini.genis (since-deleted) went viral for a series of videos that initially passed TikTok's content moderation team by leading with thumbnails that showed explicit content. However, when clicked on, the videos were instead creepy footage. On December 12th, TikToker^[1] @lamborghini..genis reposted a video from the account without an explicit thumbnail, receiving over 1.2 million plays and 8,400 likes in two days (shown below).

During the same timeframe, if a TikToker searched "lamborghini genesis" on the app, videos with explicit thumbnails could be seen. This was evident in top comments left on the aforementioned TikTok,^[1] such as one reading, "bro i searched up lamborghini genesis," which earned a "blue comment" and gained over 3,500 likes in two days.

Spread

Interest in Lamborghini Genesis spread on the app, evident in memetic content that referenced it. For instance, on December 13th, 2023, TikToker^[2] @legooy_am uploaded a video akin to Don't Google, receiving over 115,300 plays in a day (shown below, left).

Also on December 13th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @thenewtezz posted a similar video, gaining over 108,400 plays in less than a day (shown below, right).

Sometime on or before December 13th, 2023, the original Lamborghini Genesis account was banned by TikTok's moderation. In turn, various copycats emerged.

Neon Brown TikTok, also known as Don't Search Neon Brown, refers to discussions and memes surrounding the TikTok account @neon.brown1 after TikTokers noticed that it uses NSFW thumbnails in mid-December 2023. The account was still active 24 hours after its first post, leading to increased interest and discussions around why it hadn't been banned, with TikTokers making memes and videos telling each other not to search the terms "Neon Brown" and "Kawasaki," phrases used in @neon.brown1's video captions. The account then inspired the similar Lamborghini Genesis trend.
