On July 31st, 2021, TikToker[1] @swaggledazzle posted a video of a Sonic the Hedgehog fan animation over the caption, "'I'm left handed' no you're not. Left handed people don't exist. Stop being an attention seeker," garnering over 795,000 views in two years (shown below).

The meme and other memes claiming left handed people are just attention seekers spread over the following months. On August 30th, 2021, Twitter[2] user and musician @thegreatkhalid quote-retweeted a screenshot of the video, writing, "I’m left handed 🥲" garnering over 2,200 likes in two years. On September 30th, Redditor u/JuelFlower posted a meme to /r/196[3] that gained over 7,300 upvotes in two years (shown below).
On January 5th, 2022, Twitter[4] user @wydccalamity posted, "left handed people don’t exist y’all just do it for attention," garnering over 18,000 likes in a year. On September 28th, the Sonic meme was reposted to /r/comedyheaven,[5] garnering over 1,500 upvotes in a year. On January 15th, 2023, TikToker[6] @dawggslate posted a video using the copypasta, garnering over 7.5 million views in seven months (shown below).
On August 1st, 2023, Twitter[7] user @wildtiktokss posted a screenshot of the Sonic video, writing, "Are left handed people actually real?" garnering over 15,300 likes in under a day.
