Love Him or Hate Him, He Spittin Facts, also known as Do You Agree With Him, refers to a series of ironic videos executed in the style of demotivational posters in which viewers are offered to agree or disagree with various individuals who are "spitting facts", with their speech usually replaced by dubstep music or other sounds, with ear-rape and bass-boosting effects often included.

Spitting Facts

The phrase "spitting facts" has been used in memes prior to the appearance of the format. For example, on April 9th, 2019, Instagram user drippyflows made a post containing the phrase which gained over 3,500 likes in four months (shown below, left).[1] On April 29th, 2019, iFunny user Braverbuddy posted a video captioned with the phrase with the post gaining over 92,400 smiles in three months (shown below, right).[2]

Do You Agree With Him

On June 1st, 2019, Instagram user ironicbepis posted a video of a teenager making a siren noise captioned "Do you agree with him?" (original post no longer available, YouTube reupload shown below).[3]



In the following weeks, multiple users on Instagram uploaded similar edits, including notable posts by willmakememes4food[4], realstiffy[5] and pr6xe[6] (examples shown below).



Origin

The exact origin of the "Love Him or Hate Him, He Spittin Fax" meme is currently unknown. On June 24th, 2019, iFunny user panthur reposted the earliest meme containing the phrase, with the post gaining 56 smiles in one month (post shown below).[7]



Spread

On July 3rd, 2019, Instagram account grandmas.buttwhole reposted an edit of the video in which the man's speech was replaced with "Bangarang" by Skrillex made by an unknown author.[8] The post gained over 237,000 views in three weeks. On the same day, YouTube user Magical Peanut posted another edit of the video.[9]



On July 10th, 2019, Instagram user lunkycharms posted a video of Kanye West edited in a similar fashion, set to dubstep composition "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" by Skrillex, gaining over 1,100 views (shown below).[10] On the same day, Instagram user awkvardd posted a shorter version of the meme, gaining 38,500 views.[11]



In the following days, the format gained a significant spread on Instagram, iFunny and Twitter. On July 17th, 2019, YouTuber Keemstar reposted an edit made by Twitter user @extremeblitz, promoting further spread of the meme.[12][13] On July 18th, Grandayy posted a version of the video featuring Ray William Johnson which gained over 779,000 views in two days.[14]
