About
The Love Language Quiz, also known as Love Language Test, is a personality quiz hosted on the website The 5 Love Languages. It asks the user a series of questions to determine which mode of receiving or giving love is most meaningful to them. The five love languages offered are "Physical Touch," "Words of Affirmation," Acts of Service," "Quality Time," and "Receiving Gifts." The quiz was popularized on TikTok in July 2022, after TikTokers began posting their results and making it a viral trend.
Origin
The Love Language Quiz is based on a theory put forth by Dr. Gary Chapman in his book The 5 Love Languages back in 1992. He has since developed the theory into a counseling method to help people strengthen their interpersonal relationships.
The landing page for the quiz on The 5 Love Language's official website[1] reads, "What's Your Love Languageâ„¢? For couples, singles, teens, and children. Take this quiz to discover your primary love language, what it means, and how you can use it to better connect with your loved ones."
On July 5th, 2022, Indonesian TikToker[2] @.kyoukoooo posted a video compiling results from their friend group, set to a nightcore version of The Neighbourhood's "Baby Come Home 2 / Valentines. The post gathered over 900,000 plays and over 100,000 likes in nearly a month (seen below).

Spread
The trend soon began to take off, with people making videos showing their Love Language Quiz results set to the same TikTok sound soon after @kyoukoooo's initial post. On July 6th, 2022, another Indonesian TikToker[3] @chaeaeeiuu posted a video showing the results of their Love Language Quiz, set to the same TikTok nightcore remix sound. The post gathered 5.9 million views and 200,000 likes in a little over a month since it was posted (seen below).

The trend eventually migrated to the US, with many people pointing to their day to day aversion to physical touch, yet having physical touch being their love language. For instance, On August 15th, 2022 TIkToker[4] @tristansucks posted a video with a text overlay that read, "stop touching me." followed by a screenshot showing their Love Language Quiz results as "Physical Touch." The post gathered over 1.2 million views and over 200,000 likes in approximately four days (seen below).
