About

Malding, a portmanteau of the words "mad" and "balding," are slang terms often used to describe gamers who get angry while playing multiplayer games. The term was popularized by fans of the Twitch streamer Forsen, who would spam the phrase "So bad, so mad!" in his chat, then "So bald, so mad!", and eventually "So Bald, So Mald."

Origin

On November 9th, 2011, Urban Dictionary[1] user Yozaru submitted an entry for "Mald," defining it as someone who "is either a mad and bald person, or a person who is Mad about being bald" (shown below).

Mald The words Mad and bald put together. Someone who is Mald is either a mad and bald person, or a person who is Mad about being bald, and is therefore taking their frustration out on others. Mike: Ha! Nice hair bro John: Dude shut up, they shaved my head while I was sleeping you should have stopped them. Mike: Why are you blaming me for you having too many drinks and passing out? You're so Mald. #mad #angry #bald #skinhead #frustrated #upset by Yozaru November 09, 2011

Spread

On June 1st, 2019, Forsen looked up the word "Mald" on Urban Dictionary after users had been spamming his chat with the word (shown below).

On June 10th, Redditor ganondorf69[2] posted an upvote plea with a picture of Forsen, saying "Upvote this image so when you type “MALD” in google images this pops up" (shown below).

On July 1st, streamer Nymm posted an explanation of the meme, saying how it started as people saying "So bad, so mad" in Forsen's chat, then "So bald, so mad," then "So bald, so mald," and eventually just "mald" (shown below).
