Masks For Men is an online advertisement for face masks by the clothing brand eSkakti^[2] in June 2020 during the coronavirus outbreak. On Twitter, the advertisement was mocked for adding gender to a typically unisex item and many characters parodying a potential customer of "Masks for Men."

Origin

On June 15th, 2020, Twitter user @tressiemcphd^[1] shared a screenshot of an advertisement that reads "Introducing Masks for Men" and captioned it "Also known as 'masks'." (shown below). The tweet gained over 78,100 likes and 9,800 retweets in a day.

Spread

On June 15th, 2020, Twitter user @HeartAttackMane^[5] shared @tressiemcphd's tweet and said, "Oh thank fuck they finally have man masks I’ve been holding off on wearing a mask this whole time cuz I wasn’t sure if the masks would work for men like me I am a man I love beef jerky and war movies and having sex with local hot milfs in my area ready to fuck" (shown below, left). The reply garnered over 420 likes in a day. The Twitter account @Dictionarycom^[3] also responded by sharing their site's definition of mask (shown below, right). The tweet received over 200 likes in a day.

That same day, Twitter user @spencerbarrett^[4] shared multiple images of gendered unisex items including "Masks for Men" with the caption, "Choose your fighter" (shown below). The Daily Dot^[6] published an article on Men with Masks memes.
