Master Chief Teaches You refers to a series of AI voice videos featuring Master Chief and other characters providing instructions on how to do various things (such as taxes) and motivating the viewer. Created by YouTuber The Synthetic Soundsmith, the series went viral online in early May 2023.

Origin

On February 20th, 2023, YouTuber^[1] The Synthetic Soundsmith uploaded their first video, an AI voice video of the character Master Chief from the Halo video game series teaching the viewer how to do their taxes. The video (shown below) accumulated over 794,000 views in three months.

In the following weeks, the YouTube channel posted more similar advice and motivation videos, most of them narrated by an AI voice model of Master Chief. For example, on March 9th, 2023, the user uploaded^[2] a video titled "Master Chief educates you on how to overcome procrastination," which gained over 310,000 views in two months (shown below, left). On March 20th, the YouTuber^[3] posted a tutorial in which Master Chief taught the viewer how to perform a riff from the Halo soundtrack (shown below, right). The video garnered over 198,000 views in the same period.

These and other videos posted by the channel used AI-generated art of Master Chief and other video game characters as thumbnails.

In addition to Master Chief, the channel also posted AI voice motivation and advice videos featuring Kratos from God of War, Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Joshua Graham from Fallout: New Vegas and other prominent video game characters.

On April 30th, 2023, Twitter^[4] user @Kutielee tweeted three screenshots of the videos from the channel, commenting, "Are boys ok?", with hundreds of users replying no. The tweet (shown below, left) gained over 7,100 retweets and 80,500 likes in two days.
