About

AI Joe Biden Voice Clips refers to artificial-intelligence produced deepfake voice clips in which people make U.S. President Joe Biden says something uncharacteristic, funny or offensive. In early 2023, Joe Biden AI voice clips became notably popularized on sites including 4chan and Twitter. The clips are often synthesized using AI-voice tools such as ElevenAI.

Origin

One of the earliest viral AI voice clips of Joe Biden was uploaded by YouTuber[1] Speaking of AI on March 29th, 2020. The clip, created using Tacotron 2 and WaveRNN models, has Biden giving a false explanation of what COVID-19 is and gained over 117,000 views in three years (shown below, left). Speaking AI uploaded several other Joe Biden AI clips over the following months, including a video[2] on May 25th that garnered over 72,000 views in three years (shown below, right).

Spread

In early 2023, AI-produced voice clips of Joe Biden became increasingly prevalent online following the beta release of ElevenAI on January 23rd, 2023. For example, on January 29th, an anonymous user of 4chan's[3] /pol/ board started an "AI voice synthesizer" thread, linking to ElevenAI and sharing several Vocaroo clips synthesized with the software, encouraging users to make their own. Three more threads like this were posted to /pol/[4][5][6] that day, resulting in a number of clips of Joe Biden reading copypastas and saying funny or offensive things. Examples from the threads include Biden reading the you will never be a woman copypasta,[7] Biden encouraging people to "slap the nearest Jew you can find"[8] and Biden explaining the Sneed's Feed and Seed meme (shown below).[9] On January 31st, The Verge[10] reported on the AI's popularity on 4chan.

In February 2023, reposts of the vocal clips started going viral on Twitter. On February 3rd, Twitter[11] user @Ascendid_1 posted a clip that gained over 12,000 likes in five days (shown below).

On February 6th, Twitter[12] user @I_SHOOT_COPS posted a clip that gained over 66,000 likes and 11,000 retweets in two days (shown below).

That day, the same Twitter[13] user then made a thread of Joe Biden AI voice clips, garnering over 4,500 likes on the first post in the thread in two days (shown below).

The AI voice-generating of Joe Biden continued, often combining Biden with other voice-generated HIs of Presidents. A video uploaded by Zimo Nitrome to YouTube on February 9th, 2023, which placed an AI voice Biden with an AI voiced Trump bringing up a series of very-online references, received over 191,000 views in eleven days on YouTube.[14]

YouTuber HasanAbi streamed about the increasing number of deepfake clip memes on February 19th, 2023 (seen below) receiving almost 200,000 views on YouTube in the course of two days (seen below).[15]
