About
Me Genuinely Tweaking refers to a phrasal template that's used to caption videos of animals, characters and people freaking out to symbolize a scenario that would cause someone to lose their cool. The meme trended on TikTok in 2023, with most of the memes using the Animatronic Tweaking video, a video of a horse neighing and an animation of a man laughing in a bathroom.
Origin
Currently, the first known use of the phrasal template is a non-viral tweet shared by X[1] user @nnportent on January 8th, 2023, that captioned a picture of himself with, "Me Genuinely Tweaking In the Corner."
Despite the aforementioned usage, viral usage of "Me genuinely tweaking" didn't surface until a month later on TikTok, evident in the first known video to use the phrase shared by TikToker[2] @nfbofficial on February 18th, 2023. The TikToker made a joke about his car not starting and, despite misspelling "tweaking" as "twacking," became the first-known viral usage of the phrase, gaining roughly 2.1 million plays and 366,400 likes in 10 months (shown below).
Spread
The snowclone's usage continued to surface under the TikTok sound[3] used by TikToker[2] @nfbofficial, such as a video posted by TikToker[4] @praiseth3sun on March 7th, 2023, who used the snowclone to reference taking his girlfriend's phone, gaining roughly 2.2 million plays and 505,500 likes in nine months (shown below, left).
Going into mid-2023, the snowclone's usage spread to other templates, evident in a video shared by TikToker[5] @symbi0t33 on August 21st, 2023, which used an animation of a man laughing in a bathroom paired with the When You Gotta Lock In phrase. Over four months, the video received roughly 4 million plays and 560,500 likes (shown below, right).

Viral usage of the snowclone persisted on TikTok[8] going into late 2023. During the same timeframe, usage spread to other platforms in image and GIF content. For instance, on November 11th, 2023, X[9] user @FUTCHZ1LLA captioned a Mario Judah 'Die Very Rough' GIF with the snowclone, gaining roughly 4,500 likes in a month (shown below).
