Mom Leave Me Alone I Wanna Be Famous is a viral video of a Black woman (TikToker @eaija) singing an original song that uses the beat of Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti's song "Wokeuplikethis." Originally posted to TikTok in mid-August 2023, the audio of the video became a widely used TikTok sound going into mid-2023.

Origin

On August 13th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @eaija posted a video that started with her front camera on and then cut to a secondary video showing herself emotionally freestyling over the instrumental of "Wokeuplikethis" by Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert.^[2] The video received roughly 6.3 million plays and 1.8 million likes in nine days (shown below).

On the following day, August 14th, @eaija posted another TikTok^[3] that made her freestyle a TikTok sound,^[4] gaining roughly 3.4 million plays and 588,800 likes in eight days (shown below).

Spread

After she made her second video a TikTok sound,^[4] various creators on the app started to use it for their own videos. For instance, one of the earliest and most viral was posted by TikToker^[5] @skvttlos on August 17th, 2023, who stated that the song was "crack," gaining roughly 588,500 plays and 159,600 likes in five days (shown below, left). Others, like TIkToker^[6] @oneofsonicsfangirls on August 19th, added text captions to the original video, gaining roughly 223,200 plays and 9,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).

Other than videos, photo slideshows also surfaced that used the sound,^[4] such as one posted by TikToker^[7] @korivndrs on August 16th, 2023, that added the lyrics to images of Booster Gold and other DC Comics characters, gaining roughly 31,700 likes in six days.

Over the course of eight days, the meme's primary TikTok sound^[4] had amassed over 9,900 posts.
