Nihilists After Their First Under the Table Footjob at Applebee's or I Want to Live! is a series of memes based on and referencing an image macro of Nico Robin from One Piece screaming, "I want to live!" under the caption or catchphrase, "nihilists after getting their first footjob under the table at Applebees," as if the footjob restored their will to live. The meme was posted to X / Twitter in July 2022 and became the subject of redraws and referential memes over the following years. The meme series is similar to the Maple Syrup Footjob meme.
Origin
On July 21st, 2022, X[1] user @feydemon posted an image of Nico Robin screaming and crying, "I want to live!" under the caption, "nihilists after getting their first footjob under the table at Applebee's," garnering over 67,000 likes and 10,000 reposts in two years (shown below).
Spread
The meme gained viral spread and became the subject of referential memes over the following years. On July 23rd, 2022, it was posted to the subreddit /r/196,[2] garnering over 500 upvotes in two years. On August 8th, a meme referencing the original in which Bridget from Guilty Gear is implied to be getting a footjob in Applebee's was posted by X[3] user @napcakes2, garnering over 23,000 likes in two years (shown below).
On August 9th, the Bridget art was posted to /r/196,[4] garnering over 3,000 upvotes in two years. On August 10th, a GIF version of the meme was posted to /r/whenthe,[5] garnering over 17,000 upvotes in two years.
On January 18th, 2023, X[6] user @StellaNoxEclair posted a meme using the same caption over an image from Final Fantasy IX, garnering over 1,100 likes in a year (shown below). On May 27th, 2024, the Facebook[7] page God left us unfinished reposted the original meme, garnering over 1,500 shares and 4,400 reactions in a month.
