No I'm Not On the Menu is a catchphrase and series of memes in which women, often anime girls, insist they're not on the menu as if someone just tried to hit on them using the pickup line, "Are you on the menu?" The earliest version of the meme is an image macro featuring Kobeni from Chainsaw Man posted to iFunny in July 2021, inspiring numerous variations over the following years.
Origin
On July 18th, 2021, iFunny[1] user Breton posted an image macro in which Kobeni from Chainsaw Man nervously insists while taking an order, "N-no I'm not on the menu. That would be cannibalism," garnering over 52,400 smiles in three years (shown below). This is the earliest known version of the meme.
Spread
On August 2nd, 2021, u/jungleboyswag reposted the Kobeni meme to /r/Animemes,[2] garnering over 9,100 upvotes in three years. On June 3rd, 2022, X[3] artist @kuromaruart posted a new version of the meme, garnering over 3,000 likes in two years.On August 3rd, YouTuber[4] Voice Quills posted a voiced over version of the meme, garnering over 1.4 million views in roughly two years (shown below).
On December 19th, 2022, X[5] user @mintlet_ posted a meme in which a character says a variation of the line, garnering over 5,900 likes in just over a year (shown below). On October 24th, 2023, Redditor u/ClosetedFemboyNum74 posted a version of the meme referencing The Coffin of Andy and Leyley to /r/femboymemes.[6] garnering over 2,400 upvotes in five months (shown below, right).
