About
"No, No. He’s Got a Point", also known as "No, No. He Has a Point," is a reaction image taken from The Emperor's New Groove featuring the character Kronk as he debates his shoulder angel and devil about whether or not he should remove Kuzco from the palace. The image is used in response to a caption above the bottom frame to show that someone or something makes a good point. The quote itself is also a frequently used phrase without the image.
Origin
The original scene that the meme is taken from appears in The Emperor’s New Groove, specifically during the scene called “Kronk’s Mission.” During the clip, Kronk is tasked by Yzma with removing Kuzco from the palace in an attempt to usurp his throne. Whilst on his mission, Kronk has a moment of internal conflict portrayed with the iconic shoulder angel and devil plot device featuring two tiny versions of himself (one bad, one good).
At one point, devil Kronk attempts to persuade Kronk to be evil by listing “three good reasons” why he should take his advice over the angel’s. The second point he makes shows a scene where he does a one-handed handstand/push-up to which Kronk replies, “But. What does that have to do with anything?” Directly after the question is posed, angel Kronk says, “No, no. He’s got a point,” thus goes the origin of the meme (seen in the video below).
The first instance of the scene being used for memes comes from a post by u/Picker-Rick to the r/Memes subreddit where the quote “No, no. He’s got a point.” is seen being used for the first time on August 9th, 2019.[1] The quote predates the image again in another post to r/ThanosDidNothingWrong by u/DragonPupps when they used the text for the title of a meme posted on October 28th, 2019.[2]
For the scene itself being used as a reaction image, the first post on Reddit with the now established format comes from u/zNightmare69 on November 9th, 2019 (below). Posted to the r/2meirl4meirl sub, this initial meme then spread online before being adapted for other captions.
Spread
Particularly in late 2019 from November to December, No No He’s Got A Point rapidly spread as users began creating their own variations, especially seen on Reddit as well as Twitter.
The previously mentioned meme that’s the earliest example found was reposted to Twitter by several accounts, including @__Jackyyyyy__ who tweeted it on November 11th, 2019, where it was then discovered by more Twitter users.[3]
On November 28th, 2019 alone, there were three different posts to various subreddits that performed admirably with thousands of upvotes each. Reddit user u/EggShapedBox uploaded a version of this meme to the r/Memes sub with a screenshot of texts discussing drinking that received nearly 30,000 upvotes and 86 comments (see below).[4]
About an hour later, u/struikhaar posted another version to r/Memes with the title “White grandpa big racist” and received over 25,000 upvotes.[5] Later that evening, a third user (u/LynnTheClown) then created another meme and uploaded it to the r/HistoryMemes sub where it got over 1,000 upvotes and 20 comments.[6]
Upon gaining popularity on the platform, a Reddit user commented that “Adding ‘no no he’s got a point’ meme to another meme doesn’t make it yours.” which sparked several quotes of the comment that were then turned into memes. An example of this is seen with an upload by u/TheWolvesKing on December 24th, 2019, to the r/DankMemes sub, which garnered almost 18,000 upvotes and over 100 comments (below).[7]
