About

Bring It On is a quote associated with Kuzco from the 2000 Disney animated movie The Emperor’s New Groove, where he and Pacha resignedly prepare to fall off a waterfall. The scene and quote are used in a six-panel template to illustrate similarly desperate situations where one ultimately accepts their fate before saying "bring it on."

History

The Emperors New Groove was released in movie theatres on December 15th, 2000. In one scene of the movie, Pacha's attempt to rescue Kuzco leads to the both of them falling off a cliff into a river, tied by a vine to a floating tree. Jaded by this chain of events, they notice and come to terms with the fact that they are about to go down a big waterfall before Kuzco utters the line "bring it on" as they fall into the rapids below. This scene was first uploaded on YouTube in 2007, and individual GIFs of the shots that would later become the boxes for the template were uploaded to Tumblr[1] on September 10th, 2011.

- Uh-oh.
- Don't tell me. We're about to go over a huge waterfall.
- Yep.
- Sharp rocks at the bottom?
- Most likely.
- Bring it on.

The oldest recorded usage of this scene as a meme was uploaded by Memecenter user Dabunk9019[3] on November 17th, 2012 (shown below).

Uh-oh. High as hell ready to watch this movie? Yup Going to die laughing when you see this scene? Most likely. Bring it on MemeCenter memecenter.com

Spread

The meme format consisting of the six panels continued to spread to other sites and meme-generating apps. For example, DeviantArt[2] user marcus-morris posted a version on December 19th, 2012, to illustrate a classic Dungeons and Dragons situation, receiving 3,000 views in roughly nine years (seen below).

Uh oh. Let me guess. We are about to fight the final boss, and we haven't saved in quite a while? Yep. Our healer is out of mana? More than likely. Bring it on. marcus-morris.deviantart.com
