Oh No! You Got Misgendered? You Poor Thing. In 2001, on September 11… refers to a copypasta on Twitter originating from a post by a user who attempted to make the point that a trans person getting misgendered wasn't as bad as 9/11. The tweet was widely mocked on social media, leading to parodies in which "Oh no! You got misgendered?" would lead to other well-known copypastas.

Origin

On September 11th, 2023, Twitter user @provokatov^[1] made a post in which he attempted to insult transgender people by saying the trauma of getting misgendered isn't as bad as the trauma of 9/11 (shown below). The post was ratioed, over 100 retweets, 900 likes, and 1,000 quote-tweets in less than one day, as many people reposted it with jokes about its content.

Spread

The tweet was quickly joked about and criticized by numerous Twitter users. For example, on September 11th, 2023, user @ImJaneBaseball^[2] joked, "transphobes are so obsessed with us that they'll make 9/11 about us," gaining over 20 retweets and 320 likes in two hours (shown below, left). The same day, user @deleteevelyn^[3] edited the content of the tweet to fit the My Own 'Afghanistan' copypasta, gaining over 30 retweets and 500 likes in three hours (shown below, right).

The tweet itself became a copypasta, as some users edited it to include other monologues. On September 11th, user @sabatonfan69^[4] added a monologue from Gladiator to the original tweet, gaining over 150 retweets and 2,000 likes in less than a day (shown below, left). The same day, user @KSPraidsagain^[5] joked about the tweet using art of Godzilla, gaining over 19 retweets and 100 likes in less than an hour (shown below, right).
