About

Earl Sweatshirt is the stage name of rapper Thebe Neruda Kgositsile. At age 16, he would garner notoriety as a member of the hip-hop collective Odd Future

History

Thebe, previously going under the name Sly Tendencies and releasing a mixtape under that name in 2008, first garnered notoriety under the moniker Earl Sweatshirt at the age of 16 as a member of the hip hop collective Odd Future. In 2010, he dropped his first mixtape under the moniker simply titled Earl. Produced mostly by Odd Future member Tyler, the Creator, it would be his only release for upwards of 2-3 years due to his mother sending him to boarding school in Samoa.

In 2012, Earl made his official return to music on the song "Oldie" as a part of Odd Future's debut album The OF Tape Vol. 2. In 2013, he released his debut solo album Doris, his first project since the release OF his Earl mixtape, through his own record label Tan Cressida and Columbia Records.

In 2015, he released his second studio album I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside, preceded by the release of its lead single "Grief." The same year, he also released the EP solace as a Youtube upload on his unofficial channel dar Qness.

In 2018, Earl released his third studio album Some Rap Songs, followed by the 2019 release of his EP FEET OF CLAY.
