About
Hideki Naganuma (長沼 英樹, Naganuma Hideki) is a Japanese composer and DJ who is primarily known for his work on various Sega games including Jet Set Radio, Sonic Rush, and Ollie King. On Twitter, Naganuma has become notable for interacting with fans and shitposting. Some of his most popular tweets involve Family Guy Funny Moments, the Pokemon Lugia's pot belly, and the SiIvaGunner community.
Online History
In June of 2010, the Twitter account Hideki_Naganuma was created, with Naganuma making his first tweet on January 18th, 2011.[1] Naganuma would mostly make tweets in Japanese until late August 2012.[2]
Naganuma often retweets and shoutouts memes and mashups referencing his work. An early example is a remix of Jet Set Radio music on June 28th, 2012[3] and a remix of "Let Mom Sleep" with Fatboy Slim on July 18th, 2012.[4] For some time, Naganuma was also active on the now-defunct Google Plus.
At an unknown date before November 2015, Naganuma started using a profile picture that would inspire future variations (shown below, left). An example is a Pepe the Frog parody he retweeted on May 23rd, 2016 (shown below).[5]
As of July 27th, 2020, Nagunuma has gained over 100,000 followers on Twitter.

Family Guy Funny Moments
Naganuma has become known for shitposting about Family Guy Funny Moments on Twitter. This began in May 2016, around the time when the Family Guy funny moments meme was popularized.
On May 23rd, Naganuma retweeted Jet Set Radio and JSRF references to the Family Guy funny moments, receiving over 1,100 likes in four years (shown below).[6] The same day, he tweeted "★FAMILY GUY FUNNY MOMENTS★,” gaining over 3,300 likes and 1,100 retweets in the same period.[7] In the following year, Naganuma continued to make references to Family Guy funny moments.[8][9]
Beginning in 2019, Naganuma began posting more about Family Guy funny moments. On May 14th, he tweeted out a parody of his profile picture with the caption "Family Guy Funky Moments," gaining more than 1,100 retweets in over a year (shown below, left).[10] On September 6th, he tweeted "I'm just a family guy in funny moments." garnering over 7,800 likes and 2,900 in ten months (shown below, right).[11]
On December 25th, Naganuma acknowledged the victory of Jet Set Radio character DJ Professor K against Mariya Takeuchi in the SiIvagunner King for Another Day tournament in a tweet that received over 5,900 likes and 1,900 retweets in eight months (shown below).[12] The victory of DJ Professor K and Naganuma's acknowledgement of SiIvagunner may have prompted SiIvagunner fans to interact more with Naganuma. In the following days, Naganuma made several references to Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love and city pop. [13][14]

On January 21st, 2020, Naganuma made a tweet saying "SiIvagunner," receiving more than 19,000 likes and 3,400 retweets in seven months.[15] On January 29th, he made several posts about Family Guy funny moments.[16][17][18] On the 30th, the composer posted a screenshot of the Google search bar highlighting Family Guy next to his name (shown below, left).[19] Later that day, he changed his Twitter profile picture to a Peter Griffin parody made by @sonokido, receiving more than 12,000 likes in five months (shown below, right).[20]
The website Comicbook published an article on February 5th titled "Family Guy x Jet Set Radio Is 2020's Best Crossover So Far," showing crossover fan art of Family Guy and Jet Set Radio.[21] On March 21st, gaming news site The Gamer put out a similar article detailing Naganuma's tweets about Family Guy.[22]
Lugia's Pot Belly
On March 18th, 2018, Naganuma made a tweet with a picture of the Pokémon Lugia's belly from the app Pokémon Go, saying "I do love Lugia’s pot belly."[23] The tweet gained 7,500 likes in two years. On the same day, he replied to his own tweet with a picture of an angry Lugia, garnering over 5,400 likes in the same period.[24] In late 2019, Naganuma quoted the original tweet several times.[25][26] In early 2020, Naganuma made more tweets about Lugia's belly.[27][28][29]

Horny
Naganuma is noted for shitposting about being horny, with his first mention of it occurring on May 7th, 2019.[30] On April 21st, 2020, in response to people criticizing his posts about Lois Griffin,[31][32] he tweeted, "What the hell is wrong with "HORNY"? If all you guys are not "HORNY", the human race will perish. LOL😝" (shown below, left).[33] The post garnered over 44,000 likes in three months. On April 26th, he tweeted, "Horny on Main.", receiving over 34,000 likes in the same period.[34] The following day, he made another tweet about being horny using the hashtag #LowBirthRate, likely in reference to Japan’s low birthrate (shown below, right).[35] The composer’s post gained over 7,500 likes in three months.
On July 2nd, Naganuma replied "I’m not horny tonight" to a fan’s tweet, gaining 4,100 likes in less than a month (shown below, left).[36] The next day, he tweeted the same message but later retweeted it saying "Yet," receiving over 29,000 likes on the original tweet and almost 17,000 likes on the retweet (shown below, right).[37]
On July 6th, the composer posted a screenshot of Twitter novelty account @hideki_is (Is Hideki Naganuma Horny Tonight?) saying "What the hell is this account?" (shown below)[38] Two minutes later, he tweeted “I’m not horny tonight as well."[39] As of July 29th, @hideki_is has over 2,700 followers. Naganuma continued posting about whether he was horny through July 2020. He explained in a July 21st tweet, "まだ (Mada) means 'Yet' in Japanese. When you write or talk Japanese sentences and put "Mada" at last of the sentence, it would become funny."[40]

Jet Set Radio 3
Naganuma has stated that despite his efforts, Sega is not currently interested in another Jet Set Radio game. On April 26th, 2017, in response to fans asking him when a new Jet Set Radio game would be made, Naganuma posted a message in the Sega logo font distinguishing himself from Sega (shown below, left).[48] On April 27th, he made two similar tweets, with the first stating that he left Sega a long time ago (shown below, middle)[49] and the second directing people's questions about a new Jet Set Radio game to Sega (shown below, right).[50] Polygon published an article on the same day detailing the matter.[51]
Personal Life
Naganuma was born on May 16th, 1972 in Hokkaido, Japan. Being interested in music since his youth[52], he worked as a DJ and bartender for some time before sending demo tapes to Sega in 1998. He was accepted and became the lead composer for Jet Set Radio in 2000. He has also worked under the name skankfunk. Naganuma left Sega sometime in the late 2000s.
An interview Naganuma did with Japanese news site Sapporo Jinzukan was uploaded to YouTube by user kyokofukutsu on December 17th, 2019 (shown below). In the video, Naganuma talks about how he got into music and his work in the industry.
