King Bach, whose real name is Andrew Byron Bachelor, is a Canadian-American actor, musician and creator who rose to fame on Vine, becoming the platform's most-followed creator. Bach is featured in a number of popular memes, including the Comically Large Spoon, What The Dog Doin' and Yo Yo Yo Dance, formats and was the first to use the Vine Thud sound effect.

History

King Bach began his career on YouTube in early 2012 on the Bachelor's Pad TV YouTube[2] channel. The channel features comedy skits by Bach and his friends, notable for their high quality (example shown below)

Bach rose to fame through his comedy skits on Vine. He began posting to the platform in April 2013, posting his last video on June 21st, 2016. By the time the platform shut down in October 2016, Bach was the most-followed creator on the platform with over 19 million followers. He frequently collaborated with celebrities and social media stars throughout his career, including Kylie and Kendall Jenner in 2015.[3]

Acting Career

Beyond Vine, Bach has also found success as an actor. Notably, he has starred in the television series Black Jesus between 2014 and 2015, and has appeared in numerous films, including Fifty Shades of Black, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, Greenland and an episode of The Walking Dead.[4]

Music Career

On February 21st, 2021, Bach released a music video for his song "See Me Now" to YouTube,[5] garnering over 2.2 million views in four months (shown below).

Chuckling Squad Hacks

On August 23rd, 2019, King Bach was one of a number of influencers affected by the Chuckling Squad Hacks, in which an AT&T employee managed to access accounts via a sim card replacement hack and change their bios to read "chuckling RN," as well as post offensive tweets. Bach posted a video explaining the hack that day, denouncing AT&T as a service (shown below).

Online Presence

Bach was the most followed creator on Vine at the time of its closure, with over 19 million followers. Bach has gained a significant new fanbase of ironic memers in the years since thanks to the adoption of videos like "Comically Large Spoon" and "What The Dog Doin'" by memers.

Comically Large Spoon

On June 6th, 2013, King Back uploaded a video known as Comically Large Spoon to Vine[1] in which he asks his friend if he can have some of his ice cream. After the friend responds "only a spoonful," King Bach pulls out a comically large spoon.

This became one of Bach's most well-known videos and saw a massive increase in popularity in 2020 in new ironic meme formats (examples shown below, left and right).

King Bach is one of the men present in the What The Dog Doin' video, posted to Vine on April 9th, 2014, by @TonyBakerComedy (shown below).
