Peter Griffin In Fortnite refers to memes and rumors about Epic Games adding a skin for Family Guy character Peter Griffin to Fortnite. Memes about Peter appearing in Fortnite were first popularized in 2018 and became increasingly popular throughout the 2020s, In December 2023, a screenshot advertising Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 leaked that appeared to show both Peter Griffin and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid as new skins, inspiring reactions and further memes about his addition to the game.
Origin
Memes about Epic Games adding Peter Griffin to Fortnite were popularized online in 2018. One of the earliest viral examples of one of these memes is a video by now-deleter YouTuber BeefFishstick. The video was reuploaded by YouTuber[1] Skynard on October 17th, 2018, garnering over 500,000 views in five years (shown below).
Spread
Memes about Peter Griffin in Fortnite, as well as rumors and mockups of what a Peter Griffin skin might look like, continued to go viral online over the following years. On February 20th, 2021, data miner GMatrixGames made a post to X[2] revealing how they'd discovered files codenamed "FrenchFry" that contain still images of Peter Griffin taken from Family Guy, garnering over800 likes in two years (shown below). The story was reported by numerous gaming media outlets, including PureXbox.[3]

On June 13th, Instagram[4] user supremecheetos posted an image of a Snapchat tile showing a 3D rendering of what a Peter Griffin skin might look like in Fortnite, garnering over 20,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On June 5th, 2022, X[5] user @PattyNest shared a similar rendering, which was reposted by Instagram[6] user familyguyepictime on March 22nd, 2023, garnering over 870 likes on the former and 18,000 likes on the latter (shown below, right).
December 2023 Leak
On December 1st, 2023, X[7] user @MGA_Lani leaked a screenshot of what is purported to be a promo for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 showcasing both a Peter Griffin skin and a Solid Snake skin. The post was seemingly deleted but was reposted by X[8] user @ShiinaBR that day, garnering over 38,000 likes in under 24 hours (shown below). The leak was reported by numerous gaming journalists that day, including IGN.[9]
The leak inspired further reactions and memes about Peter Griffin coming to Fortnite_. That day, X[10] user @beasantello posted a meme about both Peter and Snake coming to Fortnite, garnering over 3,000 likes in under a day (shown below). Later that day, X[11] user @iFireMonkey, a self-described Fortnite leaker and content creator, posted, "I can confirm that the Chapter 5 – Season 1 image leak from the Xbox store home page is real 🚶," garnering over 10,000 likes in under a day.
