About
Post-Nut Clarity is a slang term used to describe a calm, clear and alert state of mind said to be achieved after orgasm. The phrase came into popular use in the 2010s, with the earliest uses of the term being traced back to Reddit and Twitter. Memes about post-nut clarity often revolve around male perceptions of their partners after orgasm, or one's increased ability to perform complex tasks after orgasm.
Origin
On February 13th, 2006, Urban Dictionary[1] user L Madsen posted a version of the phrase in question, made to read, "Post Cum Clarity," and described it as "The state of mind that comes to a male instantly after orgasm and ejaculation from sex or masturbation." The post gathered over 330 likes in over 17 years (seen below).
It's unknown where exactly the origin of "post nut clarity" came from, but it appeared online around the late 2000s and spread over the next few years. Various Twitter users used the phrase "post-nut clarity" between 2009 and 2012.[2][3][4] A December 16th, 2011, Reddit post to the /r/askreddit sub notably uses the phrase, with the Redditor asking for a "scientific explanation" behind it but receiving few answers.[5]
Spread
In the 2010s, the term began seeing significantly more use and spread online. On January 30th, 2015, Redditor /u/spellbreaker posted a link to a definition of the Japanese word "kenjataimu" on /r/TodayILearned[6] in a post that read, "TIL there is a Japanese word, kenjataimu, for the post-orgasmic period when a manโs thoughts are no longer impaired by his sexual drive and he can think clearly like a โsageโ of clear mind." The post gathered over 13,000 upvotes in eight years (seen below).
In 2017, various Twitter users used the phrase "post-nut clarity" and gathered a notable number of likes.[7][8] On September 12th, 2018, Twitter user @DammmnCam[9] posted a tweet that read, "Beat my meat. I need post-nut clarity before I make my next move." The tweet gathered over 35,000 likes in roughly four years and was reposted by various Instagram meme pages shortly after.[10][11]
On December 12th, 2018, the Call Her Daddy podcast[12] posted a clip discussing the phenomenon to its Instagram page, gathering over 100,000 views in over five years (seen below).
