Press F on the World's Smallest Keyboard is an ironic variation of the online catchphrase "Press F to Pay Respects." The phrase expresses sarcastic sympathies to another, referencing the expression "played on the world's smallest violin."
Origin
On January 12th, 2018, Tumblr [3] user horsecrisis shared an image of a tag made by Tumblr[4] user havoxc that reads, "#let me just press f on the worlds smallest keyboard." The post received more than 56,000 notes in less than two years (shown below).
Spread
On February 8th, 2019, Twitter [1] user @lovealchemist tweeted, "Oh boohoo, let me press F on the world's smallest keyboard." The post included a photoshopped image of Mr. Krabs holding a tiny keyboard. The post received more than 27,000 likes and 10,000 retweets in less than one year (shown below).
Several days later, Redditor [2] Jackky_wooddy posted the tweet on the /r/BikiniBottomTwitter subreddit. The post received more than 760 points (98% upvoted) in six months.
On February 18th, YouTuber Maker's Muse posted a video featuring a tiny keyboard. They titled the video "Press F on the World's Smallest Keyboard." The post received more than 837,000 views in six months (shown below, left).
Two months later, on April 4th, YouTuber Chikichu posted a video entitled "Let Me Press F On The World's Smallest Keyboard." The post received more than 1,800 views in four months (shown below, right).
