About

Price Tag (Sped Up) is a viral audio snippet and dance on TikTok. The snippet, being another example of Sped Up TikTok Audio comes from the song Price Tag by Jessie J, and has it's own dance that is often used in uploaded TikToks. In the summer of 2023, the audio became very popular with different styles of dances and edits being used at the same time.

Origin

On March 21st, 2023, the TikTok account @speedzsounds.x[1] uploaded the audio snipped while showing off what the lyrics are in the background, helping to make the audio format spread and be used in over 3.7 million videos in six months (shown below).

Spread

One of the first viral uses of the audio snippet comes from the TikToker @Jutta[2], who used the audio while filming herself dancing on the side of the road. When the music states to look to the left and right, however, it cuts to show her in various spots, edited together. This style of usage for the audio would be adopted by other early users of it, and earned Jutta over 1.5 million likes in six months (shown below).

The audio would continue to be used, with a spike in usage taking place during the summer of 2023. On June 24th, 2023, the TikTokers @SA_Team[3] uploaded what would become the more traditional usage for the audio, a dancing TikTok in which the looking to left and right introduces new dancers. The chorus is then when the dancing breakdown occurs amongst the group, ending with them looking at each other and clapping, which gained over 3.2 million likes in four months (shown below).
