You're Either With Me Or Hug Me is a trend on TikTok set to a sped-up version of "Hug Me" by Pharrell Williams and Trey Parker, written for Despicable Me 3, where users lip dub to the song, often extending their arms outward as if welcoming a hug while dancing. The trend is also performed with drawings, showing them in similar hugging positions. It became popular on the app in March 2022.

Origin

On June 30th, 2017, Despicable Me 3 was released in theatres. The film features a track co-written and composed by Trey Parker and Pharrell Williams titled "Hug Me," featuring the lyrics, "you're either with me or hug me" (shown below).



On March 22nd, 2022, TikToker[1] @juixcyjuice posted an Amazing World of Gumball edit using a sped-up version of the song, gaining over a million views in two weeks (shown below).

The original sound inspired increased interest in the song on TikTok as users shared how much they enjoyed it, gaining over 51,000 uses by April 6th, 2022. Some TikTokers set animations and drawings to the trend showing characters offering a hug, including TikToker[2] @akisvague on April 30th and TikToker[3] @handzier on the 31st, gaining over 318,000 views and 322,000 views respectively in a week (shown below, left and right).
